Crystal hops released for commercial production in 1993. They originate from a seedling selection made at Corvallis in Oregon in 1983 between Hallertau Mittelfrüh and a downy-mildew-resistant aroma hop, USDA 21381 M. Crystal's a half-sister of Mount Hood and Liberty.
The fruitiest of the 3 sisters, Crystal has a warm citrus zest edge. Whilst also maintaining the drinkability of European Noble parentage.
