Saphir hops were developed at the Hop Research Centre in Hüll, Germany and released in 2002. This variety was bred as a robust alternative to Mittelfrüh; Saphir imparts a distinct citrus intensity.
Alongside Saphir's brilliant aroma, this variety also has strong disease resistance to both Downy Mildew and Powdery Mildew.
