Kohatu hops originated from a cross between Hallertau Mittelfrüh and a New Zealand male hop. New Zealand Plant & Food Research hop breeding programme released the variety in 2011.
A true dual-purpose variety, Kohatu provides exceptionally clean bitterness and mild tropical aromatics that work well across a range of beer styles. Whether used for bittering, flavour additions, or dry hopping, Kohatu offers versatility and a uniquely New Zealand hop expression.
