Bramling Cross hops originated from a 1927 cross between Bramling, one of the traditional Golding varieties, and a male seedling of the Manitoban wild hop from Canada. Also known as OT48, Professor Salmon developed this variety at Wye College.
Bramling Cross delivers distinctive spice and blackcurrant flavours alongside a firm yet pleasant bitterness. These characteristics have helped drive its resurgence in traditional cask-conditioned beers, and it pairs particularly well with crystal malts.
